Trip across the pond: July 15 & 16

Monday, July 15 & Tuesday, July 16
We left at 8:30 am to drive to Chicago, lots of traffic for a Monday morning. We arrived around 2:15, leaving the car at Sky blue car park and then shuttled over to O’Hare airport.  We left a few minutes early on our Aer Lingus 3:50pm flight to Dublin.  It was a pretty smooth flight and arrived 15 minutes early.  Enough time for me to get a Starbucks and show Mark the ‘loop’ shops.  We boarded a prop plane at 6:35am and arrived in Cardiff at 8:00am, our bedtime back home.  Lynne picked us up and brought us straight away to Merthyr so we could see Gruffydd before he left for school.
He’s grown so much- tall and slimmed down.  Talking up a storm.  He went right to me and gave me a hug and kiss and then to Grandpa.  Oh, how I’ve missed his smile- so like Lucas.  We walked with Emma to his nursery school and met his teachers.  Gruff says, “carry you” instead of “carry me”.  So we did just that, hugging him tight the whole way.  Unfortunately it was all up hill.  Good thing I’ve been working out. When Gruff came home at 12:00 we played and had lunch and both Mark and I fell asleep.  By the time Luke came home at 6:00pm we had taken Gruff out to the woods for a walk and game of hide and seek.  He managed to get away from us and had us in a panic.  He knew where he was and found us.  This is a wonderful area to raise an active little boy.  He can run in the field and adjoining woods and help gather eggs from Nana’s chickens and walk Grandpa Dave’s dogs.
Dave is gone this week to Lords for the Cricket matches.  He says it is very hot in London and is having a hard time keeping the dogs cool. He will be back on Monday night.
The weather is quite hot and no AC in the hotel or at Powell’s.  It does cool down at night so we can sleep.  But we did stop at Tesco to buy a fan and crumpets for breakfast.
