Our Trip Across the Pond- Aug. 1 & 2

Thursday, Aug. 1- Killarney
Today we traveled to Killarney and guess what- it is raining again.  The traffic was in a snarl by the time we hit Towne Centre.  Our hotel is right in the middle of the action and tons of other tourists, narrow streets and no parking.  We finally found a public lot.  After checking in we had a bit of lunch and the boys and Mark took off to hike.  Emma, Gruff, and I went for a walk to check out all the shops.
The guys decided we were going to do a pub-crawl in the evening and listen to some live music.  Mark and I only hit 2 pubs before leaving the guys to it.  The 2nd pub played a favorite of Mark’s, Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”. There we all stood singing and swaying to the music, a golden moment.

Friday, Aug. 2 – Killarney
We left around 9:30 for a drive out to the Dingle Peninsula.  There were spectacular views of the ocean, mountains, and beaches all along the coast.  We stopped at a small beach that was surrounded by craggy rocks.  The ocean was cold, but that didn’t stop the guys from swimming and trying to ride the waves.  Even Gruffy didn’t seem to mind the cold water.

For, lunch we stopped at a small seaside town and ate fresh seafood. All the storefronts and townhouses were painted bright colors.  Gruffy loved watching the boats.  When we got to Killarney the guys went hiking and the girls went shopping.  It was getting too late so they didn’t make it to the top.
